The King of Macedonia, the “ambassador” of the Greek vineyard all over the world. Cultivated in Goumenissa since 1750 under the name Popolka. It ripens in late September and gives wines with deep ruby red colouring, aromas of small forest fruits, dried fruits and dehydrated tomatoes, rich in tannins that soften down with the aging of the wine to finish with an extremely long aftertaste.
Late harvest, long maceration of 8-10 weeks, maturation in oak barrels for at least 18 months.
Fatty yellow cheeses, smoked sausages and grilled meats, game, country sausages.
