Story behind the name:

Vaggeli! Are you listening to me?” asked a friend cheerfully across a large table we had for the bottling of our first white wine in 1985 in Goumenissa. This unique wine was created in celebration of the winery’s 10 Year Anniversary in 2017.

VARIETIES

Assyrtiko

The Greek variety with unlimited possibilities. Its white wines advertise all over the world the potential of the Greek vineyard, carrying the Aegean aura to all continents. The wines, with intense fruit aromas and rich structure, have the possibility of aging. In the Greek vineyard, close to 19,000 hectares are cultivated, of which 12,800 hectares are in the Cyclades, followed by Halkidiki and Boeotia with 630 and 610 hectares.

Sauvignon blanc

The variety started its journey from the Loire Valley in western France and has conquered the world. Citrus, green apple and peach aromas are the primary aromas of the variety, which is fully adapted to the Greek Vineyard. Today more than 7,500 hectares are cultivated throughout Greece, with the Regional Unit of Kavala with 1,600 hectares cultivating the largest areas, followed by Drama and Florina with 1,160 and 690 hectares respectively.

Gewürztraminer

White variety with Alsatian origin. Relatively new variety for the Greek vineyard. It occupies an area of 65 ha, with the centre of establishment in Laconia, where 12.7 ha are cultivated, followed by Florina with 8 ha. The word Gewürz in German means spice and represents the aromas that the wines of the variety have with intense spice flavours.

VINIFICATION

The must is subjected to pre-fermentation cold maceration for 6 hours and then the temperature of the tank is allowed to rise to start the alcoholic fermentation. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine remains in contact with its lees for 3 months with periodic stirring before bottling

ORGANOLEPTIC FEATURES

This crisp white wine has a tropical bouquet of aromas with notes of lime, wild roses and white fruits. The high acidity results in a crisp, clean taste with a lingering aromatic finish. Are you paying attention to me?” a friend asked in complete glee during a large table we were holding for the bottling of our first white wine in 1985 in Goumenissa. Today, marking the 10th anniversary of our winery, we decided to produce this anniversary wine, which is mainly composed of sauvignon blanc and Assyrtiko.

WINE PAIRING

It is served at 12°C and goes well with seafood, white meats and pasta.
